Exploration of the latest scientific research materials in product development and application

UHMWPE fiber (also known as high-strength high-modulus polyethylene fiber, UHMWPE fiber) is a new type of fiber that appeared in the early 1980s. Its fiber specific strength is more than 10 times higher than ordinary chemical fiber and steel. It is the fiber material with the highest specific strength in the world at present. 甶 in UH_PE fiber with high quality houses small, big intensity, mode, Zhou chemicals, ultraviolet radiation resistance and cold resistance, excellent comprehensive performance, so is widely used in aerospace, Marine engineering, military industry and individual protection, health and sports equipment and other fields. For example, military equipment such as bullet-proof jackets and helmets, engineering equipment such as armor protection for tanks and ships, and decelerating parachutes for space shuttles, as well as civil protective and defensive equipment such as protective clothing and safety ropes for mountaineering and operations, fishing nets and deep-sea breeding nets, racing boats, sailing boats, bowstrings, tennis rackets, skis and anti-cutting gloves. It can be said that uhmwpe fiber is an important material in the world's top equipment field, and also reflects the comprehensive strength of a country.

This workshop plans to explore the new product development and application prospect of uhmwpe fiber materials and its textile or composite materials. We hope that through the exchange of information between developers and designers of materials, knowledge, interaction and synergy innovation, break through the boundaries of the original subject and domain, jump the inherent limits of thinking and ideas in a, share, a concept of innovation and environment, with a fresh perspective and vision to look at the application of high-performance materials in depth and breadth, discovery and excavation potential application fields and the direction of the material, and then construct and develop high and new material product development and innovation in the field of design theory and method.

 

Social enterprise (social innovation) : building sustainable models for social transformation

Talk about entrepreneurial design. Designers are entrepreneurs. Both designers and entrepreneurs share a creative core, an openness to the unknown, and a Shared sense of risk. Together, designers and entrepreneurs discover opportunities that others see as problems; They see chaos in the eyes of others as connection; They envision new methods, new products, new services, and new ways to solve problems. But designers and entrepreneurs are not the same. They can bring unique skills and value to a desktop discussion, respectively. So how do we combine the best parts of both to solve complex social problems and to catalyze, scale and sustain social impact? This workshop will explore the affinity between design and enterprise, as well as the opportunity to combine them and catalyze and sustain social innovation.

This hands-on workshop will consist of two core modules:

Module 1 -- social design approach: participants will explore the core concepts of "social design" and practice cases and methods. We will introduce the social design approach matrix of Winterhouse design research institute to the participants. This is a tool that brings together 15 top design educators from universities and colleges. The tool will provide educators, practitioners, and students with a framework for insight into the complexity of social issues, to map out the diversity of intervention points in a complex social system, and to evaluate each necessary resource and skill.

Module 2 - approach to social enterprise: participants will explore the basic concepts of "social enterprise" and purpose-driven enterprise. We will introduce them to the cases and models of big houses from all over the world, using what NESsT calls the "preparation, execution" approach of social enterprise conception, and the basic feasibility analysis method. Participants will learn and construct the basic values and core goals of the enterprise, complete an inventory construction of the enterprise thinking, and circle the concept of social enterprise consistent with their core values, skills and abilities, and goals of social impact.

Participants will have the opportunity to apply and create their own practical tools based on a variety of social issues of their own choosing, as well as the methods learned by the two modules.

The audience

 

In November 2016, on the basis of the fourth CMF trend conference, jiangnan university and kaxiubaohui jointly held the "first TTF trend transformation and the fifth CMF forum" in wuxi, where many enterprises, industry associations and research institutes were located. As the official main forum of China (wuxi) international design expo, the forum attracted a total of 128 enterprises from home appliances, 3C consumer electronics, automobiles, new materials, molds and other industries to attend, with 446 participants and nearly 70% designers. Among the participants were the design directors of leading 3C product companies such as huawei and xiaomi, as well as the design managers of well-known household appliance brands such as philips, haier and midea.
