Mission
TTF Dream competition is designed to celebrate the full potential of design thinking in :
- Pursuing the wellbeing of lives;
- Positive transformation of organizations;
- and meaningful utilization of technologies.
Themes of TTF Dream: Life
“Acting man is eager to substitute a more satisfactory state of affairs for a less satisfactory. His mind imagines conditions which suit him better, and his action aims at bringing about this desired state.”
Ludwig von Mises, Human Action: A Treatise on Economics.
Originally published in 1940 in German. The first English edition was published in 1949.
Instead of looking for just innovations of objects, services or systems of things that support everyday life, TTF Dream looks for ideas of good live and ways of living, in which objects and services are part of.
Submissions may be scenarios of future life, or things that may lead to the change of life patterns.
Themes of TTF Dream: Organization
“One of the most significant facts of our time is the predominance of the organization. Quite possibly it is the most significant. It will take time to realize its full effect on the thinking and behavior of individuals. In this conditioning process, few escape its influence.”」
George Nelson, The Designer in the Modern World, 1957
As we are often looks for organizations that allow us to grow, to be rewarded, to be proud of being part of it, TTF Dream welcomes ideas that may inspire management innovation of existing organizations or suggest possibilities of new forms of organizations.
Themes of TTF Dream: Technology
“Technology is itself a body of knowledge about certain classes of events and activities… It is a knowledge of techniques, methods, and designs that work, and that work in certain ways and with certain consequences, even when one cannot explain exactly why. It is therefore… not a fundamental kind of knowledge, but rather a form of knowledge...”
Nathan Rosenberg, Inside the black box: Technology and economics
Instead of thinking design as a way to better use technologies, TTF Dream encourages early engagement of design thinking in the development phases of technologies, from fundamental science discovery, to experimental findings of applied science, to invention, and entrepreneurial acts of innovation.
Submissions may be applications of emerging technologies or imaginations of foreseeable future technologies that serve greater societal purposes.
